UWV has approved the budget to you, but we are able to confirm your course only when UWV confirms the order to us. This can take up to 4 weeks after the application date.

As soon as we get the confirmation from UWV, we will send you an e-mail with the title ‘Confirmation UWV’ and it will contain all further instructions.

One of the conditions of the subsidy is that you complete the course. So the subsidy is only finally approved after we inform UWV that you completed the course (attended at least 80% of the lessons).

If you did not complete the course, UWV might want you to prove that you could not complete the course due to circumstances that were out of your control.

No, you don’t need to do anything now at UWV.

UWV will pay us directly. And UWV will wait for the confirmation that we send to them after you completed the course. That’s it.

If there is a rest sum to pay for extra’s: you can find the link in the e-mail with the title ‘Confirmation UWV’ that we send after UWV confirms your course to us.

For the rest: just wait till 1 month prior to the course: we’ll send you information.

It’s a requirement that you have the right entrance level to do the course. This is your responsibility. We provide the tools, level descriptions and doing the level test prior to signing up is a condition to book our courses. Together with sending the STAP-aanmeldingsbewijs, we have reminded you to do a level test.

Some people have booked a higher level than they currently have or signed up without doing a level test.

Please take into account the following:
– having A2 level is a requirement to get the STAP-budget; you cannot get the STAP-budget if you don’t have A2 level
– for our courses: you need to have A2 level if you applied for sublevels 3 and 4; you need to have B1 level if you applied for sublevels 5 en 6
– it’s not possible to do a course if you don’t meet the required entrance level; it also makes no sense
– if your score in our level test is just below the required level: there is no need to panic, we’ll provide online materials  1 month prior to the course that can help you to reach the required level
– if your score is far from the required level, we recommend one of the following options:
1. cancel the courses as soon as possible if you doubt that you will reach the right entrance level; please note: you can cancel free of charge within 14 days after we send you the confirmation (after UWV informed us), if you cancel later: there will be cancellation costs according the NRTO terms and conditions
2. you can book the levels that you need and pay them yourself (and if needed postpone your STAP-funded course); please contact us to see what is possible

Fequently asked question:
“I signed up for level 3 + level 4; I have no prior knowledge. How can I reach A2 with self study?”
For 80% of the people it is not possible to reach A2 level with only self study. Our online course #dutchgrammar (part 1) might get you to A1 level if you master the content well, but please note: the level classification A1, A2, B1 etc is about skills, not about knowledge. Self study can bring you the knowledge, but not the skills (unless you have a talent for languages)
What to do in this situation?
– Our recommendation: cancel the STAP-budget and apply again at a later moment, once you have A2 level or close to A2 level. If you cancel: let us know and contact UWV.
– Alternatively: book level 1 and 2 (and pay yourself) and postpone your STAP-funded course if needed. But please note: doing a course is not enough: you need to master the content of level 1 and 2 before you can start level 3.

Offline courses: at the start of the lessons on the course location.

Good to know: you do not need the book to prepare for your course, you need the online materials. The book is called ‘Het Lesboek’ because it is a book for in the classroom! All self study materials are online.

– we don’t send the books for STAP-funded courses outside the Netherlands
– we’re not a webshop with next day delivery after payment! we send the books once a week
– we don’t send books to clients of offline courses, you can buy them on arrival

Contract

We kindly remind you that ‘having the right entrance level’ is a requirement BEFORE you book the course. Doing the level test is a requirement before booking, as well as an oral intake in case needed.

Wrong level?

It’s not possible to change levels with the STAP-budget. If you let us know more than 1 month before the start of the course, we are usually able to offer a later course date in case you feel that you need extra time for the preparation in order to get to the required minimum level.

We have informed UWV about the starting date and we will need to report to them at the end date.

We also take this into account when making our planning.

UWV allows a bit of flexibility if you want to change the course date.

However, this is only possible if this is possible with our planning. We strongly recommend to inform us not later than 1 month prior to the course if you want to change the course dates. Then, you’ll have the best chance that we’re able to accommodate your request.

If you’ve studied Duch before, the absolute best you can do is to review, review and again review what you’ve learned before!

And from 1 month prior to the course, and after UWV has confirmed your course to us, you will have access to the online materials and from then on you can start working on making sure you have the right prior knowledge to do the course. It will be all explained there.

If you booked 2 levels:
Access is included from 1 month before to 1 month after the course.*

If you booked 1 level:
In order to give you value for the budget while ordering only 1 level, we included the book and a 1-year license to the online materials. You will have 1 year access from the moment we receive the payment from UWV.

You can apply 1 time per year for the STAP-budget.
